Jane Lovell, an artist who runs water colour painting classes in England , took the property for 3 weeks in May to run three one week courses at Guibert. A good cook was available for evening meals and Jane brought her own assistant Georgie to do breakfasts, picnics etc - some meals were also taken in the excellent local inexpensive restaurants.
What attracted Jane so much was that there are lots of perfect scenes to paint within a few minutes walk or car ride such as village streetscapes , old stone farmyards with animals, stunning countryside, and the towering Chateau Montreal - so not too many long car rides searching for the right scene.
There are of course the fabulous river scenes with chateaux and bridges of the River Dordogne and Vezere and the mediaeval arcaded village squares, colourful street markets, sweeping vineyards etc.
The odd damp or rainy day was no problem as the barn living room accommodates every ones easels and Georgie was willing to double up as life model.
Naturally not every moment of the day is spent painting and some painters bring spouses or friends who wont be painting but this is not a problem as there are so many things to do and see. One day was a combination of learning about wine making and tasting at 2 superior St Emilion vineyards ( 40 mins), 
picnicing and then spending a blissful baking hot afternoon under the shade of a hillside cave in which the wine is stored, painting the crisscrossing pattern of the vines diving down to the pretty village below. Naturally the non painters could afford to indulge a little more in the tasting and sleep it off in the afternoon!
Travel was easy, most arrived by plane at Bergerac airport where they were either picked up by Jane and Georgie or hired a car to be more independent, others drove down which takes about 8 hours form Cherbourg . See travel
